Veryfyd is different to other Identity Platforms. Veryfyd uses the holders Digital Licence as the digital identity, no need to create another identity.
Veryfyd is fully compliant with the international standard for Mobile Drivers licence verification ensuring the holders personal information remains secured.
The standard Veryfyd process to establish an account to verify identity is based on the following:
- The relying party creates an account with Veryfyd.
- The relying party selects the employee or customer credential information they need to retain in the transaction record noting the requirement to keep PII to a minimum.
- Employees or customers consent to the credential information being shared and retained by the relying party by accepting the T&Cs. They Select ‘share my driver licence’ to confirm their identity with the relying party.
- An optional step may include a biometric check e.g. facial recognition using a selfie liveness check and comparing it to the portrait on the digital licence
- A Credential is created and is securely stored in Blockchain.
- Veryfyd creates a transaction record in the form of a de-identified token that can be used to retrieve the credential information or retrieve Zero Knowledge Proof Credentials.
- Holders are notified by email if their credential is retrieved or accessed providing them greater control and knowledge about the use of their identity credentials.
- Employees or customers that need to interact with the relying party in the future can scan their digital licence to prove their identity.
The international standard for Mobile Driver’s License (mDL) verification is ISO/IEC 18013-5.
This standard outlines the framework and protocols for issuing, authenticating, and verifying mobile driver’s licenses, ensuring that they are secure, interoperable, and can be trusted across different jurisdictions.
All Australian Issuing authorities have an agreement and commitment with the Austroads National Digital Licence Harmonisation project to implement an international standard compliant Digital Licence by the end of 2025.
Veryfyd will be fully interoperable with all Australian Digital Licences and approved international Mobile Driver Licences.
The Federal Government has announced the introduction of a Digital ID.
While the exact technology has not been finalised, it will be based on WC3 international standards for verifiable credentials. Veryfyd will be updated to verify the identity of customers presenting a Digital ID and facilitate the storage of the identity transaction.
A zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) is a cryptographic technique that allows one party to prove to another party that they know a piece of information or that a certain statement is true, without revealing the actual information itself. This concept is fundamental to maintaining privacy and security in various digital interactions.
Here’s A Practical Example
Imagine a situation where you need to prove that you are over 18 years old to enter a bar. Instead of showing your full mobile driver’s license (which contains your name, address, Date-of-Birth and other personal details), you can use a zero-knowledge proof to demonstrate that you are indeed over 18 without revealing your exact age or any other personal information. Veryfyd will show an 18+ symbol with green background to proof you are over 18.
